Hi! I am glad you are here! We live in an interesting world. There is so much more than meets the eye.
This site is called the “Mystic Norm.” There is mystery in the universe, but as we come to understand it, it can become a normal part of daily life, making our lives richer and more meaningful.
There is a lot going on that affects the world around us. It is wise to get understanding, so that we can make more informed choices, and even discover that we have the ability to make choices in areas we did not know.
Who am I? What was I created for? What does Jesus Christ hope for me? What is love? These are some of the deepest mysteries I love to explore. As I find understanding, it enriches my life in ways I never could have imagined.
While many have spiritually rich private lives, I believe there are times to share and grow together, and live our mysterious everyday lives with each other. I hope to share things that are helpful, and I hope it opens the door to you sharing your spiritual journey as well.
So I dedicate this blog to you, and to everyone who wants to live life better, through a deeper understanding of the things that are most important.
Charting a Course
For some, there can be a lot of fear when it comes to supernatural or mystical topics. This is often the case for Christians, which is unfortunate since it is inescapably a spiritual and mystical religion. There’s not much left of value if the spirituality is stripped away — in some cases, it may start to do more harm than good.
Others may explore with fearlessness, but also with naïveté. Babies may put everything into their mouths to see how they taste, but without a parent making sure there are no toxic substances or choke hazards around, it can end in disaster. This site isn’t for generic mysticism — it is for exploring spiritual realities with the grounding of the Bible that the Creator of all things has left for us as a foundation.
And some may have a hard time considering anything mystical. One reason this happens is because those who are fast and loose with their tales of spiritual experiences frequently overplay their hand and lose credibility. Another way credibility is lost is when a spiritual religion is spiritually dead. I believe there are ways for anyone from any walk of life to discover the reality of their spiritual world — it may be a challenge for some, but I believe it is worth it for everyone, even if it looks very different for each person.
There is an ease in staying humble, staying patient, sticking to the facts, and keeping pure intentions. I think it solves all of these problems.
Spiritual Compass
I believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God, and was sent to earth in the flesh so that we would be saved. I am committed to Biblical orthodoxy. Note that in the Bible, Jesus rebuked those who purported to be experts of the Scriptures yet mixed in the traditions of men and were not understanding or obeying Scripture. I love to reclaim truths that have been occluded by human tradition, whether false teaching by the church, or false mindsets of the world.
Freedom to Make Mistakes, Freedom to Grow, Freedom from Fear
I am an optimist (ok, dreamer) and believe we don’t have to make mistakes if we keep God our true hearts desire.
I believe He will keep the righteous from falling, and veering too far in one direction or another. However, as we learn to learn, we may stumble. This is okay. I will repeat that: this is okay. It is okay to have a false conception of things as we are pursuing truth, if we are committed to having God as our teacher, because He will help us. A fear of understanding new things will very likely block us from understanding new things, so it is best to choose to do away with that fear, and place our trust in God rather than in that fear.
“The steps of a man are established by the LORD, And He delights in his way. When he falls, he will not be hurled headlong, Because the LORD is the One who holds his hand.” — Psalm 37:24
“As for you, the anointing which you received from Him abides in you, and you have no need for anyone to teach you; but as His anointing teaches you about all things, and is true and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you abide in Him.” — 1 John 2:27
A Caution
If you have not put your trust in Jesus Christ as your saviour, I cannot recommend it highly enough, and I cannot caution enough about exploring the spiritual realm without Him. He is the one true doorway to God, and to safe and blessed spiritual encounters. Feel free to read this site to learn about truth and love, and loving God spiritually, but please do not try to initiate any spiritual experience until you have been transformed by Him into a new creation and have Christ living in you.
